About this piece
It's not easy growing up with the feeling that you're not like all the other children. It's something that leaves deep marks on us. Aske has experienced this firsthand. Aske never thought about being different from the others in the colony. He did notice that he was the only one with freckles, but other than that, it was never something he pondered. On the contrary, he was just a happy little bird who got through the day with a big smile. But the others teased him for having a different beak. Aske had to go through so much before he finally met the love of his life, Pedro, who came from a completely different colony far away. It was Pedro who taught Aske that beauty lies in our nuances... our differences; and in the fact that we don't all look alike. It is us who need to take each other's hands – or wings – and give the world all the love it deserves. Today, Aske's motto is that we all have our own nuance... and no matter what color it is, it is beautiful in itself.
