About this piece
Klaksvík is beautifully situated between fjords and mountains. The final, green landscapes change endlessly - and no matter where you look, nature overwhelms you, reminding you that we live by its grace - even when we live in the city.

As is well known, the weather in the Faroe Islands is completely impossible to predict. As a Dane, you might be used to slightly unstable weather, but Danish weather can't compare to the North Atlantic. The mountains, fjords, deep valleys, high and low pressure systems are all factors that make the weather in the Faroe Islands unpredictable. And that's also one of the things that make it exciting to travel around the country.

The day this photograph was taken was a beautiful day in Klaksvík. We were to fly by helicopter to Fugloy, one of the country's northernmost islands. From there, we would first sail back, then take a boat to Klaksvík, and then a bus to Tórshavn. When we took off, we were excited for the day's adventure. We flew over the deep fjords and endless cliffs until we reached the northern islands. But by the time we arrived, the weather had changed so much that the pilot dared not let us off. He was afraid we wouldn't be able to get back for the next few days. And while we were disappointed, we enjoyed our forced return journey to Klaksvík. And as it turned out, the weather was bad for several days, and we would have been stranded on Fugloy, where only 11 people live, if it hadn't been for the pilot's sharp analysis. And today, we are grateful for that. Because we had a stew simmering at home.
