About this piece
The captivating monolith, Trøllkonufingur, comes with an epic tale. Directly translated, the name means "The Troll Woman's Finger." According to legend, a witch came to throw the Faroe Islands all the way to Iceland. When she reached the southern shore of the island of Vágar, the sun rose, and she was turned to stone. Because she was so large, she reached all the way to the bottom of the fjord, and thus only the back of her head and her finger remain above the surface of the sea. The back of her head is the island Koltur, while her finger is this beautiful monolith.
The colors of fire often manage to paint beautiful landscapes even more beautifully. This place is no exception.
