About this piece
We all have one in our lives... a true clown. The one who has to cancel their date because they set their hair on fire with the curling iron. The one at the garden party who just has to show the kids how hard they can kick a ball, only to send it through the window and straight into the living room. The one who always calls 10 minutes after you were supposed to meet and breathlessly says, "Phew, I think I’ll be about 2 minutes late."
Yes, we all know the Clown. And we love them anyway. Because even though the Clown may be clumsy, chaotic, and comically unlucky, we can’t help but care for them. Because we know it’s also the Clown who shows up when we need them.
So this one’s for you. You, my clown. You, who doesn’t just send us home in a taxi when we’ve had too much. But who takes us home, holds our hair, takes off our clothes, tucks us into bed, and even sleeps on the floor to make sure we’re okay.
This one’s for you, my dear clown, the only one who always picks up the phone at 3 a.m. when he’s run off from us.
This is a tribute to you, Clown, because we know you’re there when everything’s falling apart. Thank you.

"For many years, I’ve been wondering what true friendship really is. And I’ve come to the conclusion that, if you boil it down to its core, it’s two things for me: loyalty and forgiveness. I have friends who are good at both. And I really wanted to honor them with this piece. But how do you put love, loyalty, forgiveness, and humor into a print? This is my attempt. A puffin with a clown hat on."
