About this piece
The village of Norðradalur comes with a truly incredible love story. The legend tells that in the old days, there was a man who had a very pregnant wife. She asked him to go to the doctor in Tórshavn to get some medicine – a 10-kilometer hike across the mountains... each way. When he arrived at the doctor, he got the medicine and walked back. But when he returned home, his wife was about to give birth, so he walked all the way back to the doctor again to bring him to the house. When they reached the house, the doctor said that the wife should go directly to Tórshavn to give birth in the hospital. So, the man had to carry her all the way to Tórshavn. And what wouldn't one do for love?
